The Great Race – A Pigeon Race to Help The Kids With Cancer Foundation

Minespec Parts’ are proud to sponsor The Great Race – a Pigeon Race for the Kids with Cancer Foundation (KCF). The quicker we find a cure for childhood cancer, the better the world will be.

Tomorrow, Saturday October 6, 200 pigeons will race all the way from Swan Hill, Victoria, to North West Tasmania – almost 700km!

To get this amazing event underway, 200 ‘life rings’ were made, and printed with ‘KCF2017’. These rings are fitted to a bird at 3-5 days old and stay on the pigeon for life. These were sold to Pigeon fans and breeders across Australia for $20 each to let them raise birds specifically for this race. All rings have now been sold. This is sure to be quite the competition!  

$2000 will be donated to KCF from entries, and prize money for the winning birds will be paid down to 5th place.

Hydralink Devonport Pty Ltd is generously supplying freight via sending a vehicle on TT Line to Swan Hill and back. We are hoping the Swan Hill Flying Club will send birds back to race the opposite direction at a cost of $3 per bird. Again, this money will go to KCF.
